NCMT - Overview
Nada Centre for Music Therapy, a charitable trust, is engaged in researching, publishing and propagating the concepts relating to Indian music therapy, including nada yoga and raga chikitsa for the past five years. The Centre is also actively engaged in documenting and publishing the concepts and practices of music therapy. The Centre has thus, pioneered in bringing out publications such as What is Music? Medicinal Music, Raga Therapy, Music Therapy: The Sacred and the Profane and Self-Music Therapy, all of which have received wide readership around the world. The Centre’s Distance Learning Programme on therapeutic role of sounds and music – conducted through internet- has become quite popular in recent times – as it facilitates people who are engaged elsewhere to learn the subject during their spare-hours in their own homes. A small team of volunteers, drawn from various academic disciplines – viz., music, psychology, medicine, social sciences, alternative healing etc have been engaged in studying the impact of ragas on special children
